About Loretta Gallo-Lopez, MA, LMHC

Loretta Gallo-Lopez is a licensed mental health counselor and certified supervisor, a registered play therapist and supervisor, and a registered drama therapist and board certified trainer. As a therapist with over 20 years experience, Loretta's practice focuses on providing creative, effective and innovative treatment interventions for children, adolescents and families.

Loretta is co-editor of the book Play Therapy with Adolescents and has authored numerous chapters related to her work using play and drama therapy with children and adolescents. She is currently co-editing, with Dr. Larry Rubin, a volume entitled Play Based Interventions with Children and Adolescents on the Autism Spectrum.

Loretta has been an invited and keynote presenter at major national conferences and in the process has trained thousands of mental health professionals.

In 2008 Loretta developed and established The ACT Project - a drama therapy program for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other special needs. She currently facilitates 4 groups /week in two Florida counties, providing services to over 30 children per week. The program was the focus of a major St. Petersburg Times article in May 2009.
